This month I am so excited to share my recent favorite purchases, all hair related.

My hair is crucial to feeling confident. I know, that is silly, but it’s true. If my hair looks good, I feel good. Even if I am wearing no makeup, old sweat pants, have food in my teeth, etc… good hair = good day.

The problem is… I have very thick yet very fine hair.  It is unruly, unmanageable, and tangles super easily. Unless I plan to devote over an hour to taming it (which I never do) it can look like a hot mess all day long.

I have been on the hunt for a very very long time for any product that would make my high maintenance hair seem low maintenance. I wake up at 6:15am almost every day, and don’t want to devote more than 10 minutes to my hair routine.

Enter these three miracle products. I wash my hair every other day, usually in the evening. After I wash and brush out my hair, I have been using Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Protector and then I put it up in a bun (depending on how early I wash my hair, if it’s dry before bed, I will sleep with it down). The next morning I wake up with beautiful (and soft!) waves. I then add a little bit of Morrocon Oil Treatment Light to my ends. That’s it! No frizz, no hot mess hair, just perfect beachy waves. I grew up in Malibu, so this is the look I am most comfortable with.

For the days I do not wash my hair, I will add my favorite dry shampoo. I typically use a combo of Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo and Drybar Triple Sec

So quick, so easy, so simple. My type of hair care routine.

Do you have any quick and easy hair care tips?

Denim on Denim

I am pretty obsessed with denim on denim… and when I saw this Chambray top at Target (for under $30 dollars!) I knew I had to have it. Paired with my favorite navy over sized Tory Burch tote… I was in denim heaven.

Airport Chic

At the end of the month my maid of honor & i are going to San Francisco for a long weekend. We want to have a bestie trip, just us, before things get super busy. We are excited to get away, relax with a few spa treatments, and explore my favorite city. Since I am a Type-A Virgo — I spend a lot of time making lists: what to pack, what to buy, what to leave at home. I find myself spending the most time deciding what to wear to the airport. Whenever I travel I always choose comfort over anything else. I pair my worn in dark denim (AG are my favorite), with my comfiest sweater (from Madewell), softest scarf, and  beloved Chanel flats. Here are a few travel looks that inspire me:  Continue reading

New Product Review

Below are 3 products that I recently purchased… and all 3 have been life-changing. While that might sound a tad dramatic, all are items that I was on the hunt for. The perfect exfoliator, the best lip scrub, and a hydrating (and full-coverage!) tinted moisturizer. My skin has never looked or felt better!

1. Arcona ‘Cranberry Gommage’ Exfoliant

This exfoliator smells great, works hard, and is gentle enough to use on my sensitive skin. I don’t think I am going to ever switch!

2. The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ in Sparkling Peach

I almost gave up entirely on finding a good lip scrub after trying (and being disappointed by) a lot of popular brands. Sara Happ’s “The Lip Scrub” in Sparkling Peach is the BEST lip scrub ever. Hands down. It makes my lips feel incredible and after using it for less than a month, my lips completely changed. This is also one of the best smelling products I have ever used. Ever.

3. bareMinerals Complexion Rescue

This product is seriously amazing. Hydrating and it provides full-coverage. It also layers beautifully. When I wear it under my foundation, it gives me a flawless complexion. It is my favorite tinted moisturizer…and most days it is all I wear. Pro tip: you have to use it with a brush to get the best results. The first week, I used my fingers and was a little disappointed. Once I used it with a brush…everything changed! I use it with the Sigma Flat Kabuki Brush (F80).

I have been devoted to my Bobbi Brown skin foundation since 2008. That is 7 years. Then I discovered Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous. For the last month, my Bobbi Brown has taken a back-seat. It is that good.

1. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 in Warm Sand – $48

2. Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous in 105 – $7.99

I am pretty serious about skincare. I wash my face every morning and night no matter what and follow with serums and moisturizer. These are two of my favorite cleansers. Chanel Mousse Douceur is probably the best smelling cleanser I have ever used and makes my skin feel so soft. It also gets me excited to wash my face early in the morning. Clinique Rinse-off foaming cleanser works just as well for a fraction of the price.

1. Chanel Mousse Douceur – $45

2. Clinique Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser – $20

*honorable mention* Kate Somerville Cleanser also tops my list and is the one I use every evening after I work out. It is $34 and another great option!

Award Show Style: 2015 Golden Globes

slide_395050_4840546_freeFor two years I worked in wardrobe at two television shows. My department (of 5) dressed about 8-10 people for each award show and then worked the show’s red carpet and after parties. This experience has given me such an appreciation for all of the time and effort it takes behind the scenes to make these gowns happen. I now work as a writer and producer, but what I learned in wardrobe helps me all the time in my career.

My Favorite Scents: Candles

unnamed

My love for candles runs so deep.

My collection is rather large (especially my seasonal candle collection!) and I like to have at least two lit during my work day in separate rooms. My favorite candles don’t smell too strong, instead providing a light and lovely feeling throughout my apartment.

Below are my 3 favorite (non seasonal) candles:

1. Voluspa Cut Glass Jar Mokara (my favorite!)

2. Capri Blue Iridescent Jar Candle  (it is extra gorgeous lit up in the dark)

3. Plain and Simple Ceramic Candle (cutest design!)
